Women’s kickboxing champion Iman Barlow and boxer Stan Stannard helped nab a couple of robbers while on holiday in Spain, according to an article published by the Leicester Mercury.
Barlow and Stannard observed a couple of robbers attack a man and take his watch, valued at £25,000. As one of the robbers ran from the scene, Barlow kicked him in the chest and Stannard punched him before they “pinned the hapless robber to the floor.”
An off-duty policeman arrived, and the suspect was soon turned over to the local police. The other robber was also caught-he had been restrained by the victim’s son-in-law.
“Afterwards you start thinking he could have had a knife or a gun but instinct just kicked in at the time,” Barlow told the newspaper. She said her years of training in the martial arts gave her the confidence to act.
Barlow is the reigning Enfusion Ladies 54 kg World Champion. She retained her title in April with a decision win over Delphine Quenon.
