Enfusion teamed up with Coalition Promotions for Enfusion #68 Saturday at Sport Central in Newcastle upon Tyne, England. Iman Barlow put on an impressive performance in defeating Lara Fernandez in a 54kg female title fight, while the undercard delivered some solid action and early knockouts.
Iman Barlow (ENG) WD5 Lara Fernandez (SPA)-Enfusion 54kg Female Title Bout (5 x 2)
In the clinch, Barlow was the superior fighter, piling up points with knees to the body. Barlow also scored with some good body kicks. Fernandez looked to fend off Barlow, but the English fighter was too strong for the 21-year-old. Barlow improves to an eye catching 97-3-6(27) with the win. The young Fernandez is now 35-3-11(1).
Christopher Shaw (ENG) UD3 Simon Santana (NOR)-63kg
Shaw backed up Santana with his kicking attack en route to a unanimous points win. Shaw came out working the body kick and looked to back up Santana, who tried to work his hands. Shaw landed some solid kicks and also some good punches on Santana. Santana was hit with some good shots but never seriously hurt. Shaw improves to 37-6(22). Norway’s Santana is now 38-1-15(12).
Juan Cervantes (MEX) KO1 Mehdi Fassal-85kg
French-Moroccan Fassal tried to take the fight to Cervantes, who used low kicks and movement to fend him off. Later in the round, Cervantes threw a right hand followed by a left high kick that dropped Fassal. Fassal couldn’t beat the count and the bout was halted. Cervantes improves to 28-1-8(5). Fassal’s record is now 25-12(3).
Leif Taggart (ENG) KO2 Marian Lapusneanu (ROM)-65kg
In a 65kg match up, England’s Taggart outboxed Lapusneanu before stopping the Romanian with a body kick in round two. Taggart improves to 23-1-4(3). Lapusneanu is now 13-3(9).
Amy Pirnie (SCO) KO1 Aline Seiberth (SWI)-52kg
The 25-year-old Pirnie, who fights out of Scotland, needed only one minute and twelve seconds to dispose of Seiberth. The quicker Pirnie showed sharp hands and good kicks before ending the fight with a knee to the body. Pirnie improves to 18-1-3(9) with the win. Seiberth is now 7-2-5(2).
Ammari Diedrick (JAM) KO1 Michal Dziuda (POL)-75kg
Diedrick showed good quickness and power in disposing of Dziuda in a little over a minute. With Dziuda in a corner, Diedrick stepped in with a knee to the body that dropped Dziuda. Dziuda was badly hurt and the bout was halted at the 1:02 mark. Diedrick improves to 15-6(4). Dziuda is now 15-3.
Kyle Todd (ENG) WD3 Thierry Mosimann (SWI)-70kg
Hometown lad Todd got the better of Switzerland’s Mosimann in an entertaining 70kg bout that opened the show. Mosimann seemed to edge the first round with his hands, but started to tire early. Todd had the edge in the second, and had a big third round. The referee gave Mosimann an eight count, and the exhausted Swiss fighter was somehow able to last to the final bell. Todd improves to 36-2-5(7). Mosimann is 17-4(8).
