Dutch fighters Regian Eersel and Tarik Khbabez will likely compete in title bouts at the ONE Championship event to be held in Tokyo on 13 October.
Both fighters attended the Mix Fight Championship 26 event held yesterday in Germany, and were interviewed during the FightBox broadcast. Both Eersel and Khbabez said they “think” they will be involved in title matches at the October event, although nothing is official yet.
Eersel is the reigning ONE Championship Lightweight Kickboxing Champion. The Suriname-born warrior, fighting out of Amsterdam, won the vacant title by decision over former GLORY champion Nieky Holzken in May.
Khbabez competes in the organization’s light heavyweight division. The Moroccan-Dutch fighter is unbeaten in ONE Super Series competition, with victories over Alain Ngalani, Ibrahim El Bouni, Andrei Stoica, and Anderson “Braddock” Silva.
The ONE Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Title is currently vacant. The organization will have to select another contender to face Khbabez in order to crown its inaugural light heavyweight champion.
Neither fighter mentioned probable opponents.
