Glory World Welterweight Champion Cedric Doumbe announced today he is unable to face Murthel Groenhart in the GLORY 70 main event as a result of an injury sustained during training.
Doumbe was scheduled to defend his title against Groenhart at the 26 October event in France in a rubber match between the welterweight rivals, but the bout is now off indefinitely.
According to Doumbe, he felt “an intense shock” to his elbow during a training session last Sunday, and must undergo an MRI to determine the extent of the injury.
The doctor who examined Doumbe “totally forbids me to participate in the fight”, according to the champion, and he will defend his title when he’s recovered.
