The heavyweight division is heating up. Badr is back. Hesdy Gerges showed he is still a force. Benjamin Adegbuyi is back in the mix, and other notables include Brazil’s Guto Inocente and young power puncher Junior Tafa. Are you ready to add Daniel Ghita’s name to the list?
Trainer Nick Hemmers posted on Instagram a picture with “the Savage Samurai” taken outside the Hemmers Gym, and proclaimed “Daniel Ghita is back !!”.
The Romanian destroyer hasn’t competed in the GLORY ring since June 2014, when he dropped a five round unanimous decision to reigning champion Rico Verhoeven. Before his current hiatus, Ghita was a fan favorite and one of the biggest knockout artists in the sport. His knockout victims include Gerges, current contenders Anderson “Braddock” Silva and Jamal Ben Saddik, along with former contender Errol Zimmerman.
There’s been talk of Ghita returning to the ring before so fans should be a little wary. If Ghita is serious this time and is committing to training with the elite Hemmers Gym, he can still be a force.
