The Martialism Square organization (MAS Fight) officially announced Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek will meet Chinese superstar Yi Long for the third time.
Described by the organization as the “Rematch of the Century”, the bout will take place on 8 October in Hong Kong.
Each fighter has bested the other on a previous occasion. Buakaw defeated Yi by decision in 2015, but the Chinese fighter avenged the loss with his own decision win a year later.
Both previous fights were held in the Wu Lin Feng (WLF) promotion.
The trilogy bout takes place in MAS Fight, and MAS Fight rules will be in effect. A fighter can only win by knockout, and the fight will consist of a single nine-minute round with the fighters using 5 oz gloves. The bout is a draw if neither fighter knocks out his opponent.
According to the promotion, there is a 50 million Thai Baht side-bet on the fight’s outcome. That’s over $1.5 million dollars!
Other fighters announced for the 8 October extravaganza include Yodwicha Banchamek, “King” Artur Kyshenko, and also 2018 Enfusion Al Shiraa Grand Prix winner Superbon.
