EM Legend 63 kg champion Lu Jun will participate in the prestigious RISE World Series 2019 competition taking place in Japan. EM Legend announced the Chinese champion’s participation via social media.
Lu, nicknamed “The Black Panther”, captured the title at EM Legend 35 with a second round TKO win over Thai veteran Pord.
The Chinese champion will shed 2 kg (4.4 lbs) to compete in the Rise tournament, which begins on 10 March.
Lu faces Genji Umeno, a Muay Thai veteran from Japan who held a stadium title in Thailand, in a first round match.
RISE World Series 2019
The RISE World Series 2019 is a prestigious event organized by the RISE promotion. Tournaments are being held in the 58 kg and 61 kg weight categories, and every participant has held a championship title.
Fighters from Brazil, Japan, Korea, Portugal, Thailand, and Ukraine are scheduled to compete at the 1st round event on 10 March.
Tenshin Nasukawa, the Japanese kickboxing superstar who recently fought a boxing exhibition against Floyd Mayweather, is currently the reigning RISE feather weight champion.
Nasukawa faces Federico Roma of Argentina in a first-round match in the 58 kg weight category.
