Hard-hitting Mergen Bilyalov of Kazakhstan will return to defend his 75 kg tournament title at the Kunlun Fight 81 event taking place on 27 July in Beijing, China.
Bilyalov won the 2018 KLF 75 kg World Championship tournament in impressive fashion.
He knocked out Zhao Cun in the quarterfinals in the first round with punches, then defeated 2017 tournament winner Vitaly Gurkov in the semis by first-round TKO with a body punch.
In the final, Bilyalov defeated Zhang Yang by majority decision.
Zhang, last year’s runner-up, was also announced for this year’s tournament. Marouan Toutouh, who lost the 70 kg World Max final to Davit Kiria in February, will also compete in this year’s 75 kg tournament along with Zheng Zaoyu.
Andy Ristie’s opponent has also been named. Former GLORY champion Ristie faces top Chinese fighter Kong Lingfeng.
Kunlun Combat Professional League Continues
In other Kunlun Fight news, the Kunlun Combat Professional League continues this month with events airing on FightBox HD on June 22, 23, 29, and 30.
The Kunlun Combat Professional League (KCPL) features 16 teams competing for the league championship. This weekend, the 5th round of the preseason takes place.
