The long-awaited rematch between reigning GLORY Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven and Badr Hari is attracting a lot of early interest, according to a statement released by the organization.
Tickets for the 21 December showdown, to be held at the Gelredome football stadium in Arnhem, Netherlands, go on sale to the general public on 26 July.
Fans however can pre-register to purchase tickets, which gives them the chance to buy their seats in an exclusive pre-sale next Thursday July 25.
Thus far, pre-sale registrations have exceeded the organization’s expectations.
“This is literally the biggest fight in the history of the sport. Both fighters have an army of passionate fans and we’ve already been inundated with requests to buy tickets before they have even gone on sale,” stated GLORY CEO Marshall Zelaznik in a press release.
“The volume of pre-sale registrations has been off the charts. Based on the demand we’re seeing, we are doing some last-minute adjustments to accommodate as many fans as possible.”
The Gelredome plays host to local football club Vitesse Arnhem, and can seat over 30,000 people. In addition to soccer matches, trade shows and concerts are also held at the facility. The venue will now host the hottest kickboxing ticket of the year, as two of the sport’s most popular fighters resume hostilities.
The Rico-Badr 2 rematch has been described as “three years in the making”. Verhoeven defeated Hari by second-round TKO in December 2016 after Hari was unable to continue because of an arm injury. Hari did well in the bout before the injury, and both fighters will look to erase any doubts about who is the superior fighter in the sequel.
Fans interested in pre-registering to purchase tickets for Rico-Badr 2 can do so on the Official GLORY Kickboxing website.
